I got really great choices from my shoe stylists this month at Shoe Dazzle. It’s going to make choosing only one, oh so difficult.

Most of you ladies have jumped on the pink bandwagon and ordered the ‘Stephanie’ to support breast cancer. This one is on back order so, I think I’m gonna pass.

Initially my first choice, I’m not sure if I’m digging the ‘Brighton’s’ elastic band around the heel.

The ‘Tory’ may be the perfect little flat to take me into Fall!

Eat your heart out, Dorothy, the ‘Kora’ makes me want my own pair of ruby red slippers.

Ok, this one is the dud. The ‘Naomi’ has a short heel and is the color of mud. Not cute.

Lots of details going on in the ‘Fortune’ and I love the deep charcoal color.

What do you think? I’m going to need lots of help making a decision for this month!! Love Jane

We adore Elie Saab for the gorgeous draped and ruched gowns that grace the red carpet each awards season. For Spring 2010, the designer stepped outside of his box by taking to the Paris runway with a daring new collection. Broad shouldered dresses and crisscrossed embroidery are an edgier feel for one of our favorite designers. Do we like it? We love it!

How did I spend last weekend? How every girl dreams of spending her weekends…. in a bikini, on stage, in front of hundreds of people. Yeah right. It took a few extra yoga classes, a tanning session, and bikini wax to get me excited for walking the runway in Body Glove’s 2010 collection. No, actually, what got me excited was getting to keep all the bikinis I wore in the show. Hooray for not having to shop for swimsuits for a whole year! Here’s a few pics (and a vid) of the show.
Indulge and Enjoy. Love Jane

No time for a pedicure? No problem. Kick the opened toe sandals of yester-season to the curb and dig up Fall’s closed toe counter part. I rocked these babies all weekend in lieu of a trip to the nail salon and got plenty of below-the-knee attention. I love the hard edged detail of the gold zippers and mix of faux croc and eel. The Stella pumps worked with black shorts, a purple skirt, and a pair of skinny jeans. Just add a tank top and lots of jewelry and voilà you’re out the door.

Shoe Dazzle boxes are piling up in my closet and I’m still loving my membership! These were my September shoes.

We love discovering new product lines and right now we’re swooning over Beauty Society. The ultra girly, doused in pink packaging is simply irresistible and behind the glitzy wrapper is some serious skincare.

Since I’ve just returned from a fabulous weekend in Vegas, I decided to bring this article back. Yes, it’s a repeat but, let my experience be your lesson. Love Jane

Checklist for weekend in Vegas, Baby!: 1) Mani/Pedi in vibrant, sparkly color that I wouldn’t normally wear. 2) Pack new sequined backless BCBG top, mini dress, and itty bitty bikini. 3) Bikini wax so that I’m presentable in itty bitty bikini.

I never quite made it through that list. I’m a very busy girl, you know. I certainly didn’t have time for the bikini wax that I so desperately needed. I decided to make do with a quick application of Nair. I’d used it before on my legs and it worked great. Perfect! I’m such a genius time and money saver!

For those of you that have never used a depilatory, three things you should know: 1)Always, always do the skin patch test. It is an extremely harsh chemical and can damage your skin. 2) Don’t use a towel that you care about. It will smell of the wretched goo forever! And 3) Definitely the most important. Be sure to read the label and only apply the depilatory to the body part specified on the bottle. I.E. If it doesn’t say it’s intended for use on the bikini line don’t EVEN THINK about using it there.

I always save my most ridiculously embarrassing beauty rituals for when I’m at home alone and slathering half of my body with smelly cream is one of them. I stripped down to my nothings and rolled up my $25 bath mats so as not to drip and ruin anything. The hot pink Nair bottle was so cute. No way anything bad could happen. I began to lather it on at my ankles and work my way up the leg. It tingled at first but, that was normal. Like I said, I’d used it before so I knew what to expect. Over the knee, up the thigh. I figured since I usually get a brazillian bikini wax and Nair works basically the same way that I could apply it anywhere that’s normally waxed. I put Nair in places that one should never EVER put Nair. I was very thorough in the application. I’m talking, whip out the hand mirror to navigate thorough. I stood upright with my legs spread trying not disturb the process for 7 minutes. It started to tingle with more intensity and in less than 30 seconds I was standing in the shower vigorously scrubbing the Nair off.

OH! How it burned! I have a pretty high pain tolerance and I was standing in the shower with tears in my eyes from the pain. Once the Nair was washed off I realized that the water was making it worse. I laid on my bathroom floor completely naked holding a hand-held electric fan over my va-jay jay. I could barely walk for two days, I lived in the same pair of vitamin E and Neosporin soaked sweat pants for three days and by the time I got to Vegas I wouldn’t go near that itty bitty bikini.

As I was lying on the floor in my blister bikini I read the warning label on the Nair bottle. NAIR LOTION CAN BE USED ON LEGS, ARMS, ANYWHERE EXCEPT… EYES, IN NOSE, EARS, OR ON BREAST NIPPLES, PERIANAL OR VAGINAL/GENITAL AREAS. Oops! That last bit was for me and I had completely missed it. Well, actually, I hadn’t even read the warning beforehand and ended up with 2nd degree chemical burns on my “vaginal/genital areas”.

I have never had any issues using Nair on my legs (though, I know girls who have) and still use it, occasionally. If you have an experience similar to mine with a chemical beauty product follow these steps.

*Wash the area with cool water. Do not scrub or use soap. It will only irritate the burn.

*Gently pat dry and apply a steroid cream, such as, hydrocortisone cream. It will take down the inflamation but, be sure it isn’t one containing salicylic acid.

*I used a combination of Vitamin E oil, Neosporin, and Hydrocortisone cream. Aloe Vera and other moisturizers made it sting.

*Plan on wearing loose clothing of a few days. Anything that rubs against it hurts like a biatch!

Indulge and Enjoy (after reading the warning label!) Love Jane

They’ve begun filming SATC part deux in New York and fans have been staking out the shooting locations all around the city. Us? We’re just looking forward to new, quirky Carrie outfits. Here’s a sneak peak at a few of the styles that costume designer, Patricia Field, has in store for us. The movie hits theatres May 2010.

I am always on the prowl for skincare products that will transform my skin into the brighter, smoother, more youthful complexion that I desire. In the never ending quest for such products I happened upon Riversol, a Canadian skincare line developed by Dr. Jason Rivers that claims to “reduce sun-damage to the skin, and improve the skin clarity and texture”. Sounds amazing. Sign me up.

Over the course of two weeks I tried five of the products. I’ll keep this short and simple:

The Cream Cleanser was gentle and moisturizing but, failed to remove any of my make-up. My face never felt truly clean and I followed it up every night with my usual face wash.

The Gel Cleanser was more effective in actually cleaning my face and it didn’t leave my skin feeling overly dry like most gel formulas.

The Moisturizing Cream and Moisturizing Concentrate affected my skin similarly. Both were extremely thick and felt heavy and greasy on my face. Neither product ever fully absorbed into my skin and it felt as if they weren’t allowing my skin to breath. These products were just all wrong for my normal skin type. The rich texture may be better suited to extremely dry skin and dryer climates.

The Eye Cream is the only product that I would use in the future. Its rich texture caused my concealer and eyeshadow to slide off, however, wearing it to bed every night did reduce the appearance of my little lines and bags.

The key ingredient in Riversol’s line is thujaplicin, which has been shown to have effective antioxidant abilities. If you have very dry skin and struggle to find an anti-aging line that is also gentle on sensitive skin then Riversol may be effective for you.

So, what was the culprit in Riversol’s greasy texture and inability to absorb into my skin? Probably the second ingredient listed on the label of each of the products; mineral oil. While there are many conflicting reports as to whether mineral oil (even cosmetics-grade mineral oil) is actually harmful to your skin, I’ve found that most products containing it, “sit” on the skin rather than melting into the top layer. Some reports claim that not only is mineral oil toxic but, it also clogs pores and slows the skins ability to eliminate toxins. Personally any ingredient that is a petroleum by-product, which mineral oil is, should be avoided at all costs.

Love Jane
